NEWS - Sing Me Forgotten and A Forgery of Roses have both made it to the Book Shimmy Awards semi-final round!
The Book Shimmy Awards are put on by EpicReads to celebrate the year's best Young Adult novels, and I am not going to lie--when I found out that both of my books had made it into the semi-finals, I was stunned. Absolutely shocked. So first off, THANK YOU to everyone who voted for and nominated my books to get them here. Seeing my book alongside New York Times bestselling books is... incredible. Thank you so much.
Second of all, that means we have a shot at voting SMF and FORGERY into the finals! If you feel so inclined, I'd so appreciate any votes you could spare! Sing Me Forgotten is up for the award in the "Best of Shelf" category (best overall book of the year) as well as the "All By My Shelf" category (best standalone novel of the year). A Forgery of Roses is up for the award for the "Most Anticipated" novel of 2022. You can vote as many times as you want--the more votes the better!
And, just to make things fun, how about I make you all a little deal? If one or both of my books somehow (by some miracle) make it into the finals, I'll pull out the deleted epilogue to Sing Me Forgotten and share it with you all! It's just a quick scene, and it's from Emeric's point of view. We ultimately decided the book didn't need it, but I think it could be fun to share if we make it to the finals! My books are up against some stiff competition, though, so we'll see what happens. ;) Make sure to get in as many votes as you can HERE. Voting ends December 6th.
Book Rec of the Month - Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson
This book officially came out a few weeks ago, and I am about to finally crack it open to read! I'd love to have friends read along with me so we can chat all about how awesome it is (because even though I haven't read it yet, I KNOW it's going to be amazing. it's Margaret Rogerson. I love EVERYTHING she writes.)
Here's the official blurb:
The dead of Loraille do not rest.
Artemisia is training to be a Gray Sister, a nun who cleanses the bodies of the deceased so that their souls can pass on; otherwise, they will rise as spirits with a ravenous hunger for the living. She would rather deal with the dead than the living, who trade whispers about her scarred hands and troubled past.
When her convent is attacked by possessed soldiers, Artemisia defends it by awakening an ancient spirit bound to a saint’s relic. It is a revenant, a malevolent being that threatens to possess her the moment she drops her guard. Wielding its extraordinary power almost consumes her—but death has come to Loraille, and only a vespertine, a priestess trained to wield a high relic, has any chance of stopping it. With all knowledge of vespertines lost to time, Artemisia turns to the last remaining expert for help: the revenant itself.
As she unravels a sinister mystery of saints, secrets, and dark magic, her bond with the revenant grows. And when a hidden evil begins to surface, she discovers that facing this enemy might require her to betray everything she has been taught to believe—if the revenant doesn’t betray her first.

Keeping it short this month since I know many of my readers are in the USA and celebrating Thanksgiving this week! This year, I'm thankful for all of you. Seriously. I couldn't do what I do if not for the readers who pick up my books, so thank you for being my favorite people in the world! I hope you all have the most wonderful week!
