NEWS - A Forgery of Roses is officially available for request on NetGalley and Edelweiss!
I'm so excited to announce that my second book is officially up and available to booksellers and reviewers to request on NetGalley and Edelweiss! For those of you who aren't as involved in the publishing process, let me explain what this means and why it's exciting!
In the months leading up to a book's release, the publisher creates Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) of the manuscript to send to reviewers, tastemakers, and booksellers to start generating excitement about the book and start spreading the word. ARCs are often printed in a paperback format to send to reviewers (and I just received a box of printed ARCs this month!), but almost all traditionally published books will have digital ARCs put together for the publisher to send out. NetGalley and Edelweiss are both websites that help connect publishers with these reviewers and bestsellers so that they can get digital versions of these soon-to-be-released titles into their hands.
So, having A Forgery of Roses now officially available to request on those sites means that people will start reading! Early reviews will start coming in! It's simultaneously exciting and terrifying.
If you're a reviewer or bookseller, I'd love if you requested A Forgery of Roses, and if you're approved to receive a digital copy, I hope you enjoy it! (Request on NetGalley HERE or Edelweiss HERE).
Updates from My Laptop
The most exciting update that I have from the past month is that I received a box full of printed ARCs of A Forgery of Roses in the mail about two weeks ago! It was so weird... it seems like it really was not that long ago that I was opening up my box of Sing Me Forgotten ARCs and weeping like a baby. How has it already been a year since then? And how are we already to this point with my second book? I feel like my mind can't keep up with it all!
BUT I will tell you that the ARCs are absolutely stunning! They've got this soft-touch paperback cover that I'm obsessed with, and the cover art is even more gorgeous in person than I imagined! It was really surreal to flip through the pages and see the story printed out like this. I truly hope that people enjoy this murder mystery fantasy, and that they fall in love with the characters in it like I have!
Book Rec of the Month - Small Favors by Erin A. Craig
This book officially came out a few days ago, and I'm so excited for everyone to get to read it! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this one a couple of months ago, and I blazed through it. If you've known me for any length of time, you've probably heard me talk about how much I enjoyed the mystery and atmosphere of Erin's first book, House of Salt and Sorrows (a gothic fantasy retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses), so I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I adored Erin's sophomore novel as well! It is very different from HOSAS, but it does have those almost-horror vibes that I LOVE (since I'm not huge on horror; I tend to like things that walk the line of horror so that I can get the feeling and atmosphere of being scared without having to sleep with the light on at night lol). This book was comped to the movie The Village, and I can 100% confirm that it definitely captures that vibe!
Here's the story:
Ellerie Downing is waiting for something to happen. Life in isolated Amity Falls, surrounded by an impenetrable forest, has a predictable sameness. Her days are filled with tending to her family's beehives, chasing after her sisters, and dreaming of bigger things while her twin, Samuel, is free to roam as he wishes.
Early town settlers fought off monstrous creatures in the woods, and whispers that the creatures still exist keep the Downings and their neighbors from venturing too far. When some townsfolk go missing on a trip to fetch supplies, a heavy unease settles over the Falls.
Strange activities begin to plague the town, and as the seasons change, it's clear that something is terribly wrong. The creatures are real, and they're offering to fulfill the residents' deepest desires, however grand, for just a small favor. These seemingly trifling demands, however, hide sinister intentions. Soon Ellerie finds herself in a race against time to stop Amity Falls, her family, and the boy she loves from going up in flames.
